In partnership with the visionary studio Formafantasma, Maison Perrier-Jouët reveals an ambitious project dedicated to biodiversity in the heart of its vineyard.
The Collaboration
Since 1811, Maison Perrier-Jouët has cultivated a unique dialogue between champagne, nature and art. Rooted in the botanical passions of its founders, this heritage continues to inspire the House’s collaborations with contemporary artists and designers, offering new perspectives on the complexity of the living world.
A common vision of nature
In 2024, in a contemporary reinterpretation of Art Nouveau’s reverence for nature, Formafantasma partnered with Maison Perrier-Jouët to create Cohabitare, an architectural installation designed for both people and wildlife. Named Cohabitare, the architectural installation interacts with mankind as well as with the local flora and fauna.
Illustrating the message of this project, Formafantasma has conceived a new edition of The Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët, a gala dinner which will be held this fall in the Champagne region and at the Design Miami art fair in December of 2024. The studio has also designed exclusive limited editions for Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque cuvées.

The Ilot de Biodiversité
Developed over two years in collaboration with scientists and biodiversity experts, Cohabitare is a long-term initiative conceived as a living architectural space dedicated to biodiversity within Perrier-Jouët’s Agusons vineyard in Ambonnay.
The first element of the project, the Ilot de Biovidersité (Biodiversity Island) is revealed in September 2024. 74 poles arranged throughout the site mark the 285 square metres of the space and keep humans at a reasonable distance from the nature which welcomes them, without totally cutting them off from it. These poles are structured by terracotta modules, 32 of which were designed to serve as habitats for insects thanks to a range of openings and cavities of different sizes and shapes. The native species that were planted in this reserved area will serve as food for the insects. Maison Perrier-Jouët hopes this project will contribute positively to local biodiversity and will continue to monitor its evolution over the years, respecting nature’s own rhythm.
Cohabitare will also evolve in the long-term as a platform for exchange with designers, researchers, students or the public.

Maison Perrier-Jouët hopes that the Ilot de Biodiversité (Biodiversity Island) will have a positive influence to enhance biodiversity in and around this preserved space.
