What is a Brut Champagne ?
Brut is the most emblematic style of Champagne, celebrated for its low sugar, balance, freshness and versatility. At Maison Perrier-Jouët, the Art of crafting Brut Champagne lies in the meticulous blending of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier to create cuvées that are both harmonious and expressive. It has been part of the Perrier Jouët story since 1846 and the creation of the K cuvée. This dry white wine, with less than 5% sugar, was a bold move at a time when cuvées usually contained around 40% sugar.

From Terroir to Cuvée
A meticulous blend in the House’s inimitable style
To produce Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, Séverine Frerson, the House’s Cellar Master, selects around 50 different crus: Chardonnay from the emblematic villages of Chouilly, Avize and Cramant in Côte des Blancs, Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims (Verzy and Verzenay to the north, and Ambonnay to the south) and Pinot Meunier from Dizy and Damery in the Vallée de la Marne. Every year, she blends them in variable proportions with reserve wines, thus guaranteeing consistent style and quality.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque, an iconic cuvée
To produce Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque, Séverine Frerson specifically selected Pinot Noir wines from two crus, Verzy and Mailly-Champagne, to the north of the Montagne de Reims region. “Pinot Noir grapes from Mailly-Champagne in particular have an elegance and finesse that harmonise perfectly with our signature Chardonnay from Grand Cru terroirs in the Côte des Blancs”, she highlights. This rare and elegant vintage is only produced in exceptional years.
