By translating sound into form, we show the invisible forces that sustain the vines. Nature’s invisible energy is transformed into tangible beauty.

SYMPHONIC LIFE

collector edition
As part of its collaboration with Dutch artist and Haute Couturier Iris Van Herpen, Maison Perrier-Jouët is delighted to announce the release of Symphonic Life, collector’s editions available in 10 numbered copies, adorning 10 magnums of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999.

Using organic motifs from Iris Van Herpen’s studies of the Perrier-Jouët terroir, each of the 10 limited and numbered editions of Symphonic Life is crafted using 22-carat gold in a design adorning a magnum of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999, the last vintage of the millennium, and an extravagant, seductive wine.

THE YEAR

1999
With Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999, the House ended the 20th century with panache. For this final vintage before the turn of the millennium, nature offered a high-quality harvest resulting in an elegant wine with a charming personality. After a cold winter, the spring of 1999 was marked by climatic contrasts, which led to severe thunderstorms.

The summer was dominated by heat and drought, especially in July. August cooled off and September began with an intense heat that gave way to heavy rains, with the harvest beginning in exceptional conditions, promising exceptional wines.

The Terroir
To elaborate the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999 blend, the House selected Chardonnay from the Grands Crus of the Cote des Blancs for their finesse, elegance and the intensity of their floral aromas. Made from prestigious villages of the Montagne de Reims, like Mailly, the Pinot Noir brings light, fruity notes. Finally, the fruity freshness of Meunier completes this beautiful aromatic composition.
The Taste
A charming wine, one of extravagance and power.
The Moment
Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1999 combines all the qualities expected from a great wine. As an aperitif, it is best enjoyed at a temperature of 10°C degrees and, when paired with a meal, at 12°C. Just as a long period of ageing has allowed this champagne to develop all of its aromas, additional time is required to fully appreciate it. To allow the wine to reach the desired serving temperature, remove the bottle from refrigeration a quarter of an hour before opening. Once served – ideally in a wine glass rather than a traditional flute – it needs to breathe for a few minutes. This cuvée pairs perfectly with grilled scallops served with candied lemon.
