“A BANQUET OF NATURE BY PERRIER-JOUËT” REVEALED IN MIAMI: FOR RECONNECTING WITH NATURE AND ONE ANOTHER.
Kicking off Design Miami/ 2019, Maison Perrier-Jouët unveiled “A Banquet of Nature”: an experience filled with surprising moments of re-enchantment to reconnect guests with nature and one another. “A Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët” engaged guests in a new artistic tasting ritual, nourished by the creativity of Artisans of the Wild, who were present at Faena Hotel during the House’s inaugural banquet. The collaboration between these creative friends of the House and Maison Perrier-Jouët formed an authentic and unprecedented dialogue between nature, champagne, design and cuisine.
A REINVENTED BANQUET THAT CREATES CONNECTIONS AND GIVES MEANING
Maison Perrier-Jouët has revisited the tradition of the banquet, offering new ways of connecting people with nature and one another – just as the Art Nouveau movement did at the dawn of the 20th century. Maison Perrier-Jouët’s unique bond with art and nature can be traced back to its foundation in 1811. These twin passions are best expressed by the anemone motif created for the House in 1902 by Emile Gallé, a Master of Art Nouveau.
Everyone present was taken on an artistic journey punctuated by unexpected moments. This singular experience proposed by the House was punctuated by sequences of rituals designed to provoke conversation between guests and enabled them to reconnect with themselves around creative fields, from art and design to fashion and food. At all times, they were engaged by the banquet, in either a contemplative or participative state such as when a phone rang few times with one of Maison Perrier-Jouët Artisans of the Wild – an international community of talents who share the same values as the House, asking guests surprising questions. Three such Artisans took part in “A Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët”, each bringing to the table a unique interpretation of the House’s cultural heritage and savoir-faire.
A REINVENTED BANQUET THAT RENEWS THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN CHAMPAGNE, DESIGN AND CUISINE
Maison Perrier-Jouët for the first time offered a unique encounter between three great creators and creations: Perrier-Jouët Champagne and his Cellar Master, Hervé Deschamps, Metamorphosis: a collection of six glasses by Italian designer Andrea Mancuso, of Analogia Project and a bespoke dinner created by Pierre Gagnaire, three-starred Michelin chef. This dialogue is infused with Maison Perrier-Jouët’s vision of reinvented nature. It forms part of an artistic tasting ritual, exploring the metamorphoses of nature and the way the House transforms grapes into champagne using over 200 years of savoir-faire.
Mancuso’s unique crystal creations bring all six Perrier-Jouët cuvées to life by evoking the distinctive story and personality of each one. Mancuso describes his design as being “like Perrier-Jouët champagne: it tells stories, creates surprises and conveys emotions.”
Breaking from the conventional structure of a meal, each dish offered new tasting and sharing rituals that served to engage guests in conversation. “Nature dictates my cuisine and gives it meaning”, explained the chef Gagnaire. At “A Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët”, nature bloomed from the plate – with utmost respect for the seasons and the authentic flavours of the produce – and from the table, which was decorated with the same fresh fruits and vegetables that were used in the kitchen.
Hervé Deschamps and Pierre Gagnaire worked together for a whole year to perfect the harmony between Perrier-Jouët cuvées and a nature-inspired menu. “The floral, complex style of Perrier-Jouët cuvées perfectly complemented Pierre Gagnaire’s structured cuisine, both as a wine pairing and an ingredient”, noted Maison Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps.
A REINVENTED BANQUET THAT BUILDS ON THE TALENT OF THE ARTISANS OF THE WILD
Dancer and Choreographer Bianca Li unveiled Metamorphosis to guests during the banquet, with harmonious movement and bursts of unbridled energy, she transformed the presentation of the glasses into an unexpected, magical and unforgettable moment.
Model Winnie Harlow contributed to engage the conversation between guests thanks to her unique personality joined by Contemporary Art Gallerist Emmanuel Perrotin, who come with the most important people from the art community.
With reinvented nature at its heart, “A Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët” has a meaningful purpose: to create connections between guests and nature, and one another. Beyond its unique historic bond to nature, Maison Perrier-Jouët offered a unique experience blending exceptional cuvees, incomparable glasses and one and only dinner.
