LAILA GOHAR

RE-ENCHANTING THE TASTE BUDS

At the crossroads of art and food design, Laila Gohar’s work is unlike any other. She made her creative debut in New York before garnering an international reputation for her multi-sensory experiences. Inspired by nature and fascinated by the cultural yet ephemeral quality of food as a medium, her spectacular edible installations directly address people’s senses and emotions. Laila Gohar is a true Artisan of the Wild, guided by her free spirit in her approach to creating experiential design.

Laila Gohar & Perrier-Jouët
A FEAST OF THE SENSES

Guests to Laila Gohar’s brunch hosted by the House during Design Miami/ 2018 discovered a true feast for the senses in place of a regular sit-down meal. Five food installations each focussed on a single ingredient that would appeal specifically to the guests’ sight, scent, taste, touch and smell - from delicate sugared rosemary flowers to stone crab claws - elevating the dining experience into an art performance. With her reimagining of nature, she emphasised the crystalline freshness of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2007.
