A BOLD MULTIDISCIPLINARY PRACTICE

Blurring the boundaries between art and design, British designer Bethan Laura Wood’s practice establishes a dialogue between her work, the audience and the wider world. Through her travels she has observed “those crossover spaces between nature and manmade”, which she draws on to enrich her palettes, structure atypical forms and refine her understanding of the cultural connotations of materials. These elements allow her to elevate the mundane into the extraordinary, an exercise which Wood excels in.

THE ESSENCE OF ART OF THE WILD

Bethan Laura Wood was commissioned by Maison Perrier-Jouët for her extravagant vision of the world that embodies the exuberance of Art Nouveau, a movement that forms part of the House’s cultural heritage. Her work is largely inspired by nature and makes use of vibrant colours and singular forms to convey meaning. In this way, Wood is able to fully capture the essence of Art of the Wild: the universe as seen by Maison Perrier-Jouët to re-enchant the everyday with the presence of vivid, unbridled nature.

AN IMMERSIVE CHAMPAGNE EXPERIENCE

HyperNature, designed by Bethan Laura Wood for Maison Perrier-Jouët, takes the shape of a tree whose curves, petals and colours were inspired by her journey to the House in Epernay. Free in form, intense in colour and radiant by its presence, HyperNature is the purest expression of Art of the Wild. HyperNature is a whimsical champagne experience; a new tasting ritual which enhances the element of fantasy present on the occasions we drink champagne. Originally unveiled at Design Miami/ in 2018, it has since travelled the world as the basis of all Perrier-Jouët experiences.
