Belle Epoque Rosé

Wine Enthusiast Rating

For the glassware collaboration with Perrier-Jouët, I was inspired by the beauty and elegance of the brand's signature anemone flower. We wanted to bring our brand ideal – that we are ‘stronger in colour’ – to the design, so we juxtaposed our bright hued floral with the heritage of the delicate Perrier-Jouët anemone to celebrate who we both are and what we stand for together.

The exclusive Prabal Gurung for Perrier-Jouët Gift Set features Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque Rosé and two custom designed flutes and was designed in celebration of the 2019 CFDA Awards.

Since its founding in 1811, Maison Perrier-Jouët has been profoundly influenced by its founders’ love for nature, art and design. This collaboration marries the champagne house’s heritage and iconic Art Nouveau emblem – the anemone flower – with Gurung’s modern energy and bright, bold floral prints frequently seen throughout his collections.

Through this partnership, Perrier-Jouët is proud to support Prabal Gurung’s Shikshya Foundation Nepal, which through contributions in education, aims to create a critical mass of leaders who will be instrumental in turning society into a thinking, questioning, just, equitable, brighter world. Since its founding in 2011, SFN has provided complete education to over 300 children in Nepal and has impacted more than 15,000 lives.

THE VINTAGE

The winter of 2012 was relentless, and was followed by a hot spring and summer. August brought abundant rainfall, and more rain during the harvest undermined the quality of the grapes. Maison Perrier-Jouët undertook a rigorous selection and devoted the best of the harvest to Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé, a cuvée whose style was favoured by the conditions, and the only one for which it declared a vintage. Characterised by remarkable vinosity, this is thus a particularly rare cuvée from one of the few champagne houses to produce a 2010 vintage.

THE EYE

A pale apricot color shot through with bright glints, and alive with fine and constant bubbles.

THE NOSE

Pronounced, fragrant aromas of white flowers and wild strawberry.

THE PALATE

A wonderfully fresh and lively wine with a long, lingering finish.
